After having 2 more expensive cooling pads break down lasting about a year each, I bought this one thinking if they are all going to break on me I shouldn't spend so much on them.
Does this cooling pad keep the computer cool inside and out? YES
It does the job is says it will do.
Here are my issues with it.
1. The first about two weeks you own this, you will notice the overwhelming rubber smell from the feet of this cooling pad. Some people might not think this is so bad, but it's VERY noticeable. But luckily this smell will eventually go away.
2. After about 3 months of use 99% of the time at home, the cooling pad starts making some weird grinding noises. I do keep it dusted out with one of those spray duster cans, but it just keeps getting louder and louder. Now after owning it about 6 months, I have got to the point when it grinds that I just smack it which sometimes helps. (Yeah, I know real technical, huh?) The short version: it's LOUD.
3. If you don't have usb ports on the left side of your laptop, you will have to use this thing "backwards" since the cord is so short. This isn't really that big of a deal, but you will have the air blowing towards you and towards your mouse (if you plug one in) as opposed to the left side and away.
After having grinding issues within 3 months, I'm really not sure if this will last a year like the others.Get more detail about Antec USB-Powered Notebook Cooler.
