I use the Antec notebook cooler with a targus folding lapdesk and a 17" macbook pro. There are plenty of reviews that cover this cool pad very well so I'll just mention what I found works best with a 17" MacBook Pro.
If you rotate the notebook cool pad with one exhaust on the left and one exhaust at the front -you can plug the antec power cable into the right side USB port on the MBP. This provides better cooling and doesn't block any other ports on the macbook. :)
The MBP USB ports are horizontal ( _ _ instead of | | ) and the antec cable exits the USB/power connector on the horizontal (thin) side. Plugging the antec into the left side macbook ports requires either 1) block one USB port due to the antec connector with side exit cable OR 2) run the MBP on battery because the antec cable will block the power port OR 3) use a USB adapter/extender to provide additional clearance.
If you use the pad with the exhausts on the right and rear as designed -the rear pad exhaust will get sucked up by the MacBook rear air intake. Flipping the cool pad around with the exhaust on the left and front cools the macbook better in my experience.Get more detail about Antec USB-Powered Notebook Cooler.
