I use this to cool my nuclear furnace (aka Macbook Pro 15")- and it definitely does the trick. However, there are some downsides:
- There's no easy way to leave it both plugged in (via USB) and shut off, even if the lap top is off
- It's fairly loud, even when on the lowest setting
But, on the other hand:
- It's a color match for the aluminum
- Keeps the Macbook from melting down my desk
