The Notebook cooler is well designed to cool on either a lap or on a desktop. I had another cooler and it really wasn't designed well if you were actually using the computer on your lap. Here, there are two side vents for air intake (not directly on the bottom) so that if your holding your computer the airflow does not get interrupted. It's also comfortable to hold and works equally well on a desk.
The one thing I really dislike about the cooler is the bright blue LED light on the side to tell you that its on. Its just distracting. A small, dim light would serve the same purpose and not be distracting.
