I have been using this cooling pad for probably two years. It has worked well with a variety of notebook sizes. While it works best with a 15.4 inch notebook it works well with my 14.1 and currently my 17 inch notebook.
If I'm running off of the notebook battery I tend not to use the pad fan. Even without the fan it works well on allowing heat to disperse. The fan when running is fairly quiet.
Unlike other cooling pads I have used this one is fairly stable and picks up easily if I move the laptop
