I purchased this in anticipation of getting my MacBook Pro as a college graduation present in a few months. I went from a foam based lap desk (after one horrible experience with a microbead lapdesk) to this with my large 17" Dell Inspiron. I noticed a difference immediately! Yes, my laptop stays cooler, but more importantly I stay cooler!! With the space between the legs and the iLap, it is much more comfortable. I never knew that it was uncomfortable because that was just the way things were and I had to deal with it. I am so glad I purchased this item. However, I am not sure it is worth the full retail price. I personally bought mine new off of ebay for 25 dollars. If you can, find a deal and don't hesitate on purchasing it. If you can't, weigh the options for yourself.
One down side to this is the velcro for the foam cushion is only on the bottom and I can imagine it could shift easily. Secondly, I am 5'5" and this is almost too long for my legs if I sit upright. This is an issue because of the bar that rests on the legs is pretty narrow and this is not something you have to be concerned about with a regular lapdesk. This is the only reason I docked a star.
