I ordered the drive to back up a dysfunctional G4 drive. I then hooked it up to my new iMac. It runs smoothly with little sound and is automatically backing up my data from my iMac. I now have an "insurance policy" as well as my G4 data on the G-Drive. My Apple repair person said he has never had a G-Drive fail and hope I have the same fate. So far, this has been a wonderful purchase and worth the extra money.
