I needed to connect to a X-Y crosstable paper cutter located about 30 ft from the PC, and that length exceeded the USB 2.0 spec by about 2x. I considered a wireless solution, then looked at ratings on several lesser brands of active cables before selecting these. I daisy-chained two together, and they work fine.
