I'm not a techie, I just like my new HP Pavilion notebook. But it gets hot. Real hot. FYI, my battery is not one that was recalled. I saw this in the Gold Box offer, read a lot of the reviews - whew! - and ordered. This is so easy to use right out of the box, lightweight, slim, with 2-speeds (both VERY quiet), large rubbery feet on the bottom, and 4 rubber stud-like feet on the top that keep things from sliding around. The plug-in cord is short (Good. I don't need any more stuff hanging out) so I just turned the cooler around instead of getting an extension. Problem solved. Fans blow toward me - no big deal.
